Everyone is always talking about their favorite kind of dance. But what about your least favorite? Either to watch of do. I have done mostly all classical ballet and pointe work. But I don't really like watching lyrical.
Whats your least favorite kind of dance?
Also I want to save this Community too! (Its my favorite) So update on your dance lives!

okay for my tap rountine we are doing a song called turtle rock but I can't find that song anywhere on the computer for lyrics etc and I want to practice, does anyone know the artist( it's a guy singing it) and it might not be called turtle rock...

part of the song is

"they use to do the watozoo?
they use to do the twist
back in the day they did the mash potato

thats the only part I know, and if anyone knows that would be great.

Alright, I promised you ladies an update of drama competition. We don't have our scores yet, but methinks we did quite well.

Also, so you all are aware that I didn't get cast in Harvey. Well, today our director pulled me aside and asked me to be assistant director! YaY!

My turn... [20 Sep 2005|08:02pm]

[ mood | giddy ]

So my past two months has been CRAAAAAZY!!!

I was supposed to start dance on August 24th, but I went to Cleveland when my sister had her baby on August 26th, so when I came back form vacation I was a week behind in all my classes. We also had officer elections for the dance company. I was the president last year, and some how without me even being there I was voted vice president... which is crazy because there are only four returning members from last year... I'm pretty awesome I guess... haha... I started teaching at three studios... I teach ballet, tap, jazz, cheerleading and tumbling at all three... it's madness! and I'm still working at a skateshop... but I don't have anytime to ride anymore.

I've calculated that I'm dancing 30 hours a week. and I love it so much... but it's really hard with school and work on top of that.

We've started our Fall concert... which is on November 18th and 19th. We're working with John Mead. He's a professor from NYU who came to Utah to work on his film degree of all things... then he made a film in Singapore about dance... then he came back to us... thankfully. his dance is incredible!!! I also take a modern class and an improv class from him.

I'm also taking ballet, tap and jazz and I'm assisting a beginning tap class as well. and as far as the huuuuuuge blister on my big toe... it's throbbing... I thought if I just tried to tough it out it would just callus... but instead it's just getting bigger... I'm going to tape it tomorrow.

For our concert we're going to learn another modern dance, an african dance, a jazz dance and something else that we haven't decided on yet. I'm way excited.

and I was thinking... we should put video clips of us dancing online to show each other. if anyone knows how to do it. I know I could do it very easily. buuuuut... let me know what you think

I'm going to post pictures this week sometime of my dance classes at school... and maybe the girls I'm teaching.
my little girls have their first performance on Thursday... so I'll take pictures of that... busy busy busy

Kalli Crossbones.

in response to [info]lacygreenlaw's post, i'm doing pretty well.

i started dance both at school and in my regular studio.
i stopped taking ballet when i was younger, and never really started again because i didn't want to start with babies, but now i have to take it in school, along with modern which i've been taking, and i absolutely love it. a lot of people say the dance program at cardozo sucks, but it really doesn't, its just that a lot of the students didn't expect to be doing ballet and don't want to work at all. but the teachers and the classes are amazing.

and at my studio, there's been lots of changes in staffing. my new modern teacher? is absolutely amazing. the class is a million times better than it used to be, and it used to be great, so, yeah. i've got to figure out what i'm going to do about jazz, because the class i'm taking now is way below my level, but the only company jazz class is right in between my tap and modern class, and i'd have to give up modern to take it, but i really don't want to, but i don't want to give up jazz either. so i'm probably going to keep everything the way i have it, even though not only is my jazz class way slower and easier than i belong in, its also kind of inconvenient. but whatever. i'll change it next year. easy isn't always bad. *shrugs*

Has anyone ever worn Freed Pointe Shoes. They come from London, England and I just ordered two pairs as my teacher reccommends them. I also have Freed soft blocks, which I wore for my Intermediate RAD Ballet Exam. I really liked them.

Let me know how they fit.. or what brands you recommend?

[10 Sep 2005|09:53am]

Ok this week dance start, and my class was on Saturday because it was tap and jazz (PreTroupe) and if I went into pretroupe thats the only way I can advance to harder types of dance!!

it turns out that there was only 2 people who signed up for that class and DanceZone called me yesterday to say we're not have teen pretroupe unless more people joined, and they invited me to join just a jazz class which I dont want because I want to move on.... and another reason I wanted to take teen pretroupe was because it was on a saturday and it would not interfere with my school work, and they invited me to join wednesdays class but I already missed a class!

I don't know what to do............

I am so excited!
After having a not-so great audition, I found out that I made the Dare to Dance Company!

The artistic director called me this evening to welcome me and tell me the rehearsal times.
Just thought I'd share since I knew that out of anyone, you guys would understand!
